Green GDP is an index to measure the actual national wealth that a country creates after subtracting losses in natural assets. To put it simple, it is done by subtracting the economic losses and costs caused by environment pollution, depletion of natural resources, and low level of education, uncontrolled population growth and bad management from the GDP we get by current statistical method, so as to get the actual gross national wealth.

Green GDP can indicate not only economic growth but also the harmony between economic growth and environmental protection, a vivid demonstration of the thinking and requirements of sustainable development. The higher the proportion of green GDP in GDP is, the higher the positive effects the economic growth brings, and the lower the negative effects.
